First Post + Toddler Painting

Ok, first post..I don't have anything too epic to post, simply because I don't have photos of some of my recent DIY's on my computer...that'll be coming soon. I just wanted to finally get a post up since I've been sitting on this web address for months. I am Kelly. I'm in my early 30's. I have been married for some time..and I have a 1 1/2 year old son & 2 Scottish terriers. *Are you feeling like this is a first date?....haha... I was a hair dresser for nearly 10 years at an amazing salon in the Indianapolis area until my son was born and life totally changed. A month into my maternity leave my husband and I started discussing how it was going to be when I went back to work...I literally couldn't even bear the thought of it...I couldn't handle it. I had wanted this child for years and had, had a loss before I got pregnant with him....I wanted to find a way that I could stay home with him and enjoy this precious time. Luckily, I had been doing a bit of photography for several years before I had him...My husband agreed that it would work out and I dove whole heartedly into solely being a stay at home momma and photographer. I have spent the past year and a half taking every photography class and workshop that I could and I feel like I have grown a lot...I have SO SO SO much more to learn but I'm so happy that I took this leap of faith. I had another blog for a couple of years, "Sequins and Scissors". It was so fun to do and I had a bit of success with it..I was even featured on www.today.com...(which was a huge deal to me!) but I was working a ton and never felt like I had time to really make blogging a priority. Plus, I don't wear a lot of "Sequins" anymore..and even though I still do hair..."Scissors" enter my hands a lot less nowadays. The name just didn't fit me or my life anymore. This blog is my new adventure..I seriously cannot wait to share my DIY projects, home decor, recipes and activities I do with my son because life is so much more fun as a momma.

Toddler Finger Painting-

This was the first time my son has painted anything completely on his own...I taped down some wax paper, and then used painters tape to tape down the paper. At first I only gave him red paint because I wanted to make a Valentines themed art project for him...Do you see that toilet paper roll I have shaped like a heart stamper?..Yea, that lasted 5 seconds...I also quickly realized it looked like he was painting with only red blood *yikes* so I added more colors to the palette. Sometimes these projects turn into something completely different tham originally planned and that is ok. I got this finger paint- 4 colors for $1 at the Dollar Tree (I haven't mentioned this, but the Dollar Tree is my jam!) I don't like to spend a lot of money on our activities since we do a lot of different ones every week...most of the time they cost nothing or just a few dollars. This paint was easy to get off little, squirmy fingers and I didn't have to worry when he tried to eat it *gasp*..its non-toxic. I know this isn't ground breaking or anything but maybe it'll encourage mommas with young toddlers to let them have fun with some paint.
