Homemade Fruit & Veggie Pouches

If your child is anything like mine, they LOVE fruit pouches. We go through several a day as a snack or part of a meal. Unfortunately, these can get kind of pricey. Also, even though I get "organic" ones...I'm sure they contain preservatives. As a thrifty mom, I got online to see if I could find a way to make my own. In my search, I found these beauties on my beloved Amazon.

Seriously, for under $9, I got 6 of these gems with 7 reusable caps. *SCORE!* So on to this incredibly easy recipe. Because, I like easy.."Easy like Sunday morning"...haha..ok..here goes..

I made my Fruit & Veggie mixture in the Instant Pot (best gift from my husband ever!) But this could easily be switched to a crock pot recipe as well.

Ok..so this recipe tastes EXACTLY like a strawberry fruit roll up and I may have eaten a large portion of it myself...not even gonna lie...haha...I have found that its easiest to fill the pouches over a bowl or sink. Also, don't fill them too much or you won't be able to close them. Once finished using these, rinse and you can toss them in the dishwasher. Easy Peasy Squeezie!

The best part about these is I can fill them with yogurt or any kind of mixture and I don't have to worry about a huge mess with a bowl and spoon. #mommywin!

Nutella Stuffed Heart Shaped Hand Pies

After a rough start to this to 2017...lots of crazy stuff..numerous trips to the hospital and my son hitting the 18 month sleep regression (woo-hoo!) its been super quiet around here..which is lame because I just started this blog...but I will say I have been taking so many photos of our daily activities and new recipes and old recipes that I love and cannot wait to share.

Today, I decided I wanted to get everyone into the Valentine's spirit...it is February now after all...My little guy and I wanted to make a Valentine's treat that was Easy..as in easy enough for him to help me a bit and super tasty! I had a sleeve of leftover pie dough from a pot pie I made last week and a jar of nutella....I thought, how bad can these taste? and OMG....these turned out GOOD! like Holy cow good! Seriously this was the easiest thing ever and would be perfect for a Valentine's day play date or even a little treat for a dinner at home. I'll be making them again with the help of my sleep hating little boy (haha...*waahhhh its true!).

I definitely wanted to make this recipe, toddler friendly..so I picked a pack of plastic cookie cutters at the Dollar Tree..it included a star, circle, heart and flower....super awesome deal for $1 and the plastic cutters are perfect for toddler hands.

Just cut them out of the roll out pie dough..butter a pan and lay them down...scoop 1 tbsp of Nutella in the center then use a drop of water around the heart edge..this will help seal down the second heart you lay on top of the first.
I took a fork and smashed down the edges to seal them..then I used a butter knife to cut 2 small slits in the center. Bake @ 425 for 7-8 minutes. Enjoy.  These are so so good!
